Pat Robertson, who despite you giving me that look right now is one of the most powerful televangelists in the nation, and yes that is depressingly still a thing, and who has had a lifetime of being looked kindly upon by American presidents and politicians who wanted to be seen as being on the good side of God based on Pat Robertson deciding such things on God's personal behalf, continues to have an epic sad about America and our court system not being insufficiently cruel to gay people these days. So once again he's reminding y'all that God is gearing up to punch America square in the gut if the nation doesn't cut it out right this instant.
Or, as the truly awesome Old Testament puts it:
“The nations who were doing these things were vomited out of the land and the land vomited them out,” he warned, seemingly suggesting that the United States is on a path to become such a nation that condones “abominable” sexual behavior.
“For some reason now the Supreme Court has said homosexuality is now a constitutional right and this homosexual marriage decision that was handed down recently by the majority glorifies this activity and talks about the civil rights and all this,” he continued. “Well, the Bible didn’t talk about civil rights it talked about this was an offense against God and it was an offense against the land and the land would vomit you out.”
Gay Americans are to Pat Robertson what all non-white people are to Pat Buchanan. Robertson was smart enough to make it a religious thing so that people would send him money and he could own his own television show rather than being at the mercy of other people's bookers, but the general schtick is the same. Pretty sure he's the only one of the two to launch into a speech about earth-vomiting, though.
