Welcome to Sunday All Day Brunch. This is an open topic thread so help yourself to the goodies and sit a spell and let us know what is new with you. Ever since I was 8 years old and discovered science fiction I have wanted to be able to explore outer space. I follow space exploration avidly and try to keep up with what Curiosity is doing on my favorite planet Mars.

My Dad was a physicist and he and I often talked about outer space. It was amusing that we often bought the same books on space. I remember both of us watching the first moon landing and that both of us were teary-eyed when Armstrong took that first step. We both agreed that he must have spent much of the trip figuring out what to say when he made that step.

I keep hoping that scientists will figure out warp drive so it would be possible to visit distant stars. In the meantime I just continue to do artwork and dream about what space would look like up close.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

2nd time was voted "Most Likely to be an Astronaut"

Then I joined the military to become one, and realized... it's NOT about going into space.  It's about being the best and competing in cut-throat competition.

    That was a definite buzzkill.

Don't think we need warp drive.  I'd be perfectly happy living on Enceladus...  Water, a great view... and plenty of real estate...

I don't blame Christians. I blame Stupid. Which sadly is a much more popular religion these days.

This is a most magnificent Sunday because it's raining and it's a soaking rain, and we needed this desperately.
One really strange phenomenon that neither my husband nor I have ever experienced is a continuous rolling thunder.
We couldn't figure out what the rumbling was, so we went outside and it's continuous thunder.
    It's very cool.

Rainy days always makes me want to turn on the oven so I have a meat loaf baking.
Didn't have the usual ingredients for meat loaf - not an onion in the house! - so mixed black beans, brown rice and canned chopped tomatoes in with the hamburger and added spices.
    Hope it tastes good!
Will make oven fries to go with it!

Hope everyone is having a fantastic Sunday!
