They're Akin-for-Change back to the bad-old-days ...
Meet Gubernatorial Candidate Ken Cuccinelli, Virginia’s Todd Akin
by Josh Israel, thinkprogress.org -- Dec 3, 2012

With his fervent anti-science, anti-choice, and anti-LGBT, anti-federal government activism, Akin’s extreme positions were well known long before his infamous August pronouncement that victims of “legitimate rape” are unlikely to become pregnant helped derail his 2012 U.S. Senate campaign. Cuccinelli’s views closely mirror Akin’s in all of those areas.
Over seven-and-a-half years as a Virginia state senator and three years as the commonwealth’s attorney general, Republican Ken Cuccinelli II has been, in the words of the Washington Post’s editorial board, “the most overtly partisan attorney general in Virginia’s history.” Though he claims he is “best known for his efforts to preserve liberty and defend the US Constitution,” it is his opposition to liberty for women and LGBT Americans and his frequent court losses based on his flawed constitutional theories that have defined his political career to date.

3. He is a climate-change denier. As part of his efforts to cast doubt on climate-change science, he used his position to launch an inquisition against a former University of Virginia climate scientist. Citing possible “fraud against taxpayers,” Cuccinelli demanded the university provide him with a wide range of records relating Dr. Michael E. Mann’s grant applications. A circuit judge and then the Virginia Supreme Court ruled that the Attorney General was incorrect in believing he had the legal authority to undertake such a fishing expedition.
4. He suggested President Obama stole the 2012 election.

5. He wants Arizona-style anti-immigrant policies and self-deportation.

Nice to see how the Republicans working so hard to remake -- their defective brand, eh?
No longer will they be the stodgy old white guys party for the Morality Police ...
Ooops, check that -- here comes Cuccinelli with his GOP-sirens blaring, and his over-sized ticket book in tow ...
If there's one thing stodgy old white Republicans know -- it's Morality.
The Morality of others, not their own.
The GOP Gubernatorial candidate in the state of Virginia Ken Cuccinelli, recently launched this sure-fire winner: he's renewing the GOP War on Sex. Sir Ken wants to decide what consenting adults, even married consenting adults, are allowed and not allowed -- to do in their own bedrooms ... as is his right.
Felony Charges await Virgina lovers, who don't fall into Cucc-line. Big Ken is watching ...
Virginia: A Vote for Ken Cuccinelli Is a Vote Against Oral Sex
by Caitlin Dickson, thedailybeast.com -- Jul 21, 2013
If you vote Ken Cuccinelli for Virginia governor, he’ll keep your children safe from sexual predators by making all oral and anal sex -- between everyone, even married couples -- a felony that carries a sentence of a year in prison. The state’s attorney general and Republican nominee for governor recently announced a campaign pledge to reinstate a Crimes Against Nature law, which has already been deemed unconstitutional by federal courts. [...] Cuccinelli’s explanation for opposing a version of the Crimes Against Nature law that focused on public sex, prostitution, and other nonconsensual acts? “My view is that homosexual acts, not homosexuality, but homosexual acts are wrong. They’re intrinsically wrong,” he said in 2009. “And I think in a natural-law-based country, it’s appropriate to have policies that reflect that … They don’t comport with natural law.”
Nice 'Live and Let Live' guy, eh? Not. Todd Akin has nothing over Ken Cuccinelli, in terms of presumption. In terms of legislating their own versions of personal morality.
Meanwhile the RNC arm of Virginia seems to be getting behind this Tea Party's bad-remake of their favorite movie "Back to the Past" -- they are bringing out the big artillery against Cuccinelli's competition.
The Republican Party of Virginia, want to sink the Democratic Gubernatorial candidate in VA, Terry McAuliffe, before he even gets out of port ...
Watchdog report on McAuliffe spurs FOI request to Homeland Security
by Kenric Ward, watchdog.org -- July 19, 2013
RICHMOND – Citing Watchdog.org’s exclusive report on communications between Terry McAuliffe’s GreenTech Automotive and top Obama administration officials, the Republican Party of Virginia filed a Freedom of Information Act request for copies of correspondence from the Department of Homeland Security.
“The more we learn about GreenTech, the more questions Virginia voters have,” RPV Chairman Pat Mullins said in a statement Thursday.
“Since Terry McAuliffe won’t answer questions about the company he has so often held up as proof of his business acumen, we’re asking the Department of Homeland Security to release more information about Terry’s dealings.”

I knew the GOP were big backers of DHS
for something ... like helping them win what should be patently unwinable elections.
RNC Chairman Visits VA to Support Republican Candidates
nbc29.com -- Jul 11, 2013
The chairman of the Republican National Committee is in Virginia Thursday, making the rounds with Republican nominee for governor Ken Cuccinelli, but the RNC is focused on more than just Virginia's upcoming elections.

"The GOP probably has a lot of work to do with non-white voters," said Geoff Skelley of the University of Virginia Center for Politics.
[...]
n the last presidential election, Democrats won 80 percent of the non-white vote, with only 20 percent supporting the GOP.
The white vote was split 60-40 in favor of the Republican Party. That's basically the same ratio of votes we saw 25 years ago in 1988. But back then, George Bush Sr. walked away with an easy win. Today, Barack Obama takes it home.
So what's changed?
The number of minority voters in the electorate. It's basically doubled since 1988, from 15 to 28 percent.

Now if only the democratic-leaning minority voters of VA can be spurred to vote for Mac, instead of traffic-cop Cucc.
5. He wants Arizona-style anti-immigrant policies and self-deportation.
[... Ken Cuccinelli] was “committed to passing legislation that removes the economic incentives that fuel illegal immigration.” To do this, he opposed in-state tuition for undocumented students, embraced limits on the number of people who can live in a house, and supported civil litigation so competitors could sue when a rival “employer knowingly hires illegal aliens.” He opposed bipartisan immigration reform efforts as “amnesty” for the “illegal aliens in the job market” who are “depressing wages and reducing American’s standard of living.”

The more things Change, eh?
The more the Republicans don't ... the more 'back-water' they get. Todd Akin would be proud.
Hopefully the majority of the Voters of Virginia -- won't be.
