In order to steal the spotlight back away from TED CRUZ, John BOEHNER decides one up the idiot Texas senator by announcing he would walk the plank of the ship of State. It seems that BOEHNER has very little negotiating skills and is more suited for work in the bar where he claims to have been raised. As one of the weakest Speakers of the House it seem that the "Peter Principle" has befallen the House of Representatives at a particularly bad time...
But in reality the bad time is  caused precisely by the leaders inability contain and control the hooligans who have been throwing roadblocks and causing mayhem in the people's house. He has been fending off Eric Cantor the " I wanna be speaker" Judas who has been working behind the scenes to force BOEHNER into unobtainanle goals.

So now with nothing to lose and his reelection doubtful in a tough new district, John has threatened to shut down the government and not raise the debt limit. Almost like walking the plank because there will be no negotiating on the results of the last election OBAMACARE IS HERE. The best thing he can do is go back and try to fix the legislation in order for it to work better for all of the people... I can't stop thinking about the qoute from the movie BLAZING SADDLES when Bart raises the gun to his own head....  HILARIOUS...

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

The problem is that he's trying to head two parties at the same time (Republicans, Tea Party) and their goals aren't always compatible.

As an analogy, he has been tasked with babysitting kids who have no parents and know that you cannot discipline them without getting into bigger trouble yourself.

He has basically been given mission impossible.

I will bet you that John Boehner will win his Ohio House seat, and if the GOP keeps its majority in the House, Boehner will be the Speaker for the 114th Congress.

You get to pick the amount, anything between $10 and $100, the loser has to make a donation to the winner's favorite DKOS affiliated charity in the amount of the bet.

This offer is for Osmosis is best only.

Whatever your heart tells you, your head should be saying VClib is right.  The Ohio Legislature did not gerrymander Boehner into anything but a safe seat.  Boehner will go when he wants to retire or when he wants to cash in on K Street.  That having been said, Boehner does have a career threatening choice to make.  Which comes first; does he preserve his Speakership or does he serve his country?  It seems to me that he loses either way because a choice for the former means he clearly does not deserve the office.  Even the teahadists will see that as craven and nobody likes a coward.

but, in the post '94 era  it has been uncommon for parties to change Speakers, if they keep the majority in the House. In my opinion if the GOP keeps the House, Boehner will be the Speaker.

. . . and begging Boehner to join them.

Boehner has allowed them to carry on their shitsack of demands, but that's only more dead weight.

For the debt ceiling, which will - eventually - pass the House, there will need to be Democratic votes.

Boehner will permit a vote on a clean debt ceiling bill after the teahadists have humiliated themselves in the eyes of the Republican caucus. The alternative would be for the Republican party to dissolve into factions.
