The dis/mis-information is flying all over Intertubestan in preparation of the big Obamacare show-down.
Below the fold for my reality:
Rather than listen to any of it, I thought about taking a different approach: Go get the facts. For a start, a little background: I buy my own insurance on the open market in CA. Since the ACA was adopted I've received about $1,100 in rebates from my insurance company. Additionally, my rates used to typically rise annually from 23% to 26%. Since the ACA, they went up 1.8% The coverage I buy is not very good.
When I go to the CA exchange site: http://coveredca.com/ I can shop those plans already available to me. There are no Platinum or Gold plans, but some Bronze and Silver plans are.
I can get covered with a Silver Plan plan that reduces my annual premium by $1,000. A Bronze plan, a little better than what I currently have, is about $1,600 per year cheaper.
When I sign-up for the Silver plan I will get a $2,000 deductible vs. my current $4,000, I will get a $6,000 out-of-pocket maximum vs. my current $10,000.
My Obamacare will mean much better coverage at much lower rates.
