So the Breitbartistas have themselves an "exclusive" poll of Virginia's gubernatorial election conducted by the notoriously unreliable polling firm Wenzel Strategies:
A new poll, provided exclusively to Breitbart News, finds the Virginia Governor's race a virtual dead-heat, with Democrat Terry McAuliffe leading Republican Ken Cuccinelli 41%-40%.
Given that McAuliffe enjoys a 10-point lead in TPM's
composite of the race, these results would be shocking—if Wenzel's track record weren't a complete joke. But it is a joke.
Via Daily Kos Elections's David Nir and The Hotline's Steve Shepard, here are some of Wenzel's greatest hits from the last few weeks of the 2012 campaign:
- Wenzel had Todd Akin leading Claire McCaskill by 4—McCaskill won by 16.
- Wenzel had Josh Mandel leading Sherrod Brown by 5—Brown won by 6.
- Wenzel had George Allen leading Tim Kaine by 3—Kaine won by 6.
- Wenzel had Tommy Thompson leading Tammy Baldwin by 2—Baldwin won by 5.
- Wenzel had Mitt Romney leading by 3 in Ohio. He lost by 3.
- Wenzel had Mitt Romney leading by 2 in Virginia. He lost by 4.
Given those numbers, to the extent that there's any news with this poll, the news is that if Ken Cucinelli can't even lead a Wenzel Strategies poll, he's in trouble.
