Despite Republicans pipe dreams to the contrary, President Barack Obama is NOT a Socialist Dictator.
He cannot force Insurance Companies to keep selling their wares, if they choose not to.
He cannot force Republicans to listen to reason, when 'listening' is NOT something they are geared to do.
Democratic Leaders are starting put the blame where is belongs -- on those "middle-men" doing the Policy Cancelling:
White House, Dems blaming insurance companies for policy cancellations
by Rick Moran, americanthinker.com -- Oct 30, 2013

"Insurance companies cancel insurance policies. That's what they do," said Reid.
[...]
"You should talk to the insurance companies if they're dropping people," said Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota. "The idea here is to have affordable insurance to people that don't have it."
[...]
"The free market did not change," Cardin added. "The ability of an insurance carrier or employer to maintain their plans was there, and some are taking other actions."

Free Markets do not work that way ...
In a Free Market you can not "force" a Company to 'upgrade their products' at a reasonable price.
Free Markets do not work that way -- even with new consumer-protection policies in place -- you cannot force a company to 'stay in business'. Not in a Free Country.
In a Free Country or a Free Market, we each have the opportunity and the choice to participate in it; and the choice to walk-away from it, and deal with the fallout.
If we had a "Public Option" on the new Health Insurance Exchange, all these Policy Cancellation points would be moot. There would be base level of insurance provided for all, who cared to choose it. But Republicans fought tooth and nail to make sure that ultimate safety net didn't happen -- something about the "unfair competition" a Public Option would have placed on the poor Insurers ...
In a Free Country or a Free Market -- which relies on DECISIONS of individual buyers and sellers -- we consumers are "forced" to put our faith into Corporations, pursuing their "own best interests," will in their limit-wisdom, rise up to meet our individual "market needs." (at whatever price the market will bear.)
BUT Corporations aren't charities, by the way. They are NOT socialist cogs -- they are FREE Market actors. They are free to play, or free to walk-away.
Is it any surprise that some of them have decided to pull up stakes, and try to seek their "Eazy Profits" elsewhere? Where the burdens ACA consumer-protections do not cut into their shareholder-expected double-digit gains.
Afterall, that 'freedom of choice' is the American Way. Last time I checked anyways -- despite all those Republican road-to-socialist pipe dreams to the contrary.
