It's Election Night in many states across the country, and we're liveblogging the results of races large and small. The biggest contests are for governor in New Jersey and Virginia and mayor in New York City, but there are many other hotly contested elections that are up for grabs, including attorney general and the state House of Delegates in Virginia; a key state Senate seat in Washington; and mayoral races in Boston, Seattle, and many other cities.

8:16 PM PT (Darth Jeff): Minneapolis employs a ranked-choice method so it's hard to know for sure who's won until all the votes are counted and recounted. However, local media reports Councilor Betsy Hodge is on track to prevail in the open seat mayor's race.
8:20 PM PT (Darth Jeff): It's all over in Nassau. Democrat Tom Suozzi has conceded to Republican Ed Mangano in the County Executive race.
8:25 PM PT (David Jarman): In the state of Washington, I-522, which would mandate labeling of genetically modified food, is failing 41-59. However, the much-watched $15 minimum wage initiative in the town of SeaTac, WA, is passing 54-46. In the progressive vs. progressive mayoral race in Seattle, Ed Murray leads incumbent Mike McGinn 56-43.
8:30 PM PT (Darth Jeff): 49 percent reporting in New York City and Bill de Blasio is crushing Joe Lhota 73-25. Unsurprisingly, the AP has called the race.
8:37 PM PT (Steve Singiser): The vote is pretty much completely tabulated in New Jersey, and it looks like the Democrats dodged some serious peril there. Despite the lopsided re-election for GOP Gov. Chris Christie, his coattails were minimal. With nearly all precincts in, it looks like the GOP knocked off just two Democratic Assemblymen (Nelson Albano in AD-01, and Timothy Eustace in AD-38), and held onto all five of their vulnerable Senators. The net result? A continued 24-16 Democratic majority in the Senate, and an only slightly narrowed 46-34 edge in the Assembly.
