The following is a brief roundup of the DKos Asheville Voter Registration Project's third outing on Tuesday.
Yesterday was Municipal Election Day in North Carolina and from what I am seeing we solidified our progressive leadership in this jewel of a city. Thank you kind voters! While we were registering, we were also looking for "I Voted" stickers and found my dear friend Nancy who agreed to pose for the picture.
Though we couldn't register for the local election, we were able to give people advice, look up their status and most importantly, their polling place. Much appreciation all around. And we officially registered our first two voters! David is taking the forms to the Election Board today. The first was a change of address but the second was a brand new voter. Cha Ching.

Intrepid Kossacks davehouck, randallt and LamontCranston worked valiantly to attract interest in their voter registration project. Accompanied by amazing Spanish guitar music, the afternoon unfolded seamlessly as people registered to vote and asked for information about where to vote.
We were delighted to see the Salvation Army set up near us. She was a delightful lady and happily agreed to the photograph. She even turned everything orange for us! What a sport.
It was chilly and windy when I arrived to find David set up as usual. He hadn't had a customer yet but that was soon to change. I went into the store for a snack and some coffee and came back to find a Salvation Army bell ringer. She was just the nicest lady ever, I swear. She set the mood perfectly. What more could you ask for? A natural food supermarket, live background music, a Salvation Army lady and three Kossacks offering voting services.
Our first encounter was pretty cool. She was a Kos reader who had seen us at one of our three meet ups at the Bywater. She saw us and yelled "Look, it's the Daily Kos guys!" That was followed by a steady stream of well wishers, friendly faces, questions about voting and two registrations. And by the way, no interlopers this week.
Radio
When I pulled Into the parking lot a little after 3:00, I called into our local progressive radio station, 880 The Revolution, and told the screener, Jim, that we were offering voter registration services at Earthfare. Shortly after, Our friend and host of the show, Jeff Messer announced it on the radio. When I finally made my way to our spot on the patio in front of the store, I told David about my call and went inside for my above mentioned snack and coffee. By the time I came back, he had already talked with people who had heard about us on the radio.
A little after 5:00 I called the show again and gave Jeff an On The Air update on our Voter Registration Project. We had a quick conversation before I was pulled back to work but I thought it went well. Slide down to the 8:50 mark to hear the spot. Jeff invited us back to do more radio interviews in the near future so stay tuned.
