Lt. Governor John Walsh (D. MT) is wasting no time going after "Shutdown Steve" Daines (R. MT) who just jumped into the race for Senator Max Baucus' (D. MT) seat:
Just a few minutes ago, Congressman "Shutdown Steve" Daines announced he would challenge John in the election to be Montana's next U.S. Senator.
We knew this was coming, but now that it's official, we've got to kick it into high gear. With "Shutdown Steve" already reporting more than $1.1 million in the bank thanks to the support of shadowy millionaire and billionaire backers -- not to mention his own personal fortune -- we have no time to lose.
I need your help today to help us raise an urgent $25,000 from our grassroots community to build our rapid response fund, and make sure John can respond when "Shutdown Steve" and his backers start pouring cash into this race.
Will you make an urgent contribution of $10 or more today to help us reach our $25,000 grassroots goal in the next week?

"Shutdown Steve" Daines has made a career out of putting his narrow political agenda and personal ambition ahead of the best interests of the people he's supposed to represent -- and now he wants a promotion.
Remember, "Shutdown Steve" supported the government shutdown that cost Montana millions of dollars, temporarily stopped services for Montana's veterans, closed our national parks, and threatened our economic recovery.
"Shutdown Steve" supports Paul Ryan's budget plan, that would effectively shut down and voucherize Medicare.
And "Shutdown Steve" has consistently supported shutting down women's basic health care choices.
That's not putting service over self, and that's not Montana.
Will you contribute $10 or more today to help show "Shutdown Steve" Daines that Montanans want a U.S. Senator that puts service over self -- not the other way around?

This is the biggest test of our campaign to date. Thank you for standing with John and helping send a senator to Washington who always puts Montana first.
Sincerely,
