First we start with Megyn Kelly, whose already been a laughing stock for her comments about "White Santa" (even though Santa isn't real and St. Nicholaus was not white) and "White Jesus" (even though Jesus of Nazareth was a Palestinian Jew from Gallelei who looked nothing like Willem Defoe or James Caviezel anymore than Sparticus looked like Kirk Douglas), now she has come to criticize A&E for suspending one of it's representatives after a set of highly bigoted comments he reportedly made in GQ.
She seems to think that what he said "merits discussion". Ok, then, A&E may not want this person to continue to represent their network - which is their corporate decision to make - but he does have First Amendment Rights, so just what is it he actually said? Let's discuss.
Here's the most talked about offending bit.
“Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong. Sin becomes fine,” he said in the interview. “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”
Being Gay is a "Sin", like Bestiality and Adultery. I think the first thing to say there is functionally -
No, It's Not Like Either of those. Not even remotely. End of discussion. But wait, he said more..
much more.
In addition to his remarks about homosexuality, Robertson also suggested in the interview that black people he grew up with were happier under Jim Crow laws of segregation.
“They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’ — not a word!” Robertson said. “Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”
As If they would DARE to complain about "Doggone White People" - with a WHITE GUY Standing there? Is he dull or just unsharpened? "No one was singing the blues?" Except for all the people, who were quite literally, participating in the uniquely American and predominantly Black Created artform known colloquially as "The Blues"?
If any of you are as clueless of Mr. Robertson, the above is Billy Holiday singing "Strange Fruit" which is a song describing the aftermath of a set of Lynchings. Billy's own lifestory was filmed sometime ago in a motion picture called "Lady Sings the Blues" - but apparently according to this man, we were all better off before we were all on welfare?
Apparently Mr. Robertson didn't see any of this, so for him it just plain didn't happen? No one told him about any of this? He never bothered, ever, to Look any of it up anywhere, anytime, before spouting off about it?
I for one am thinking that a mere suspension is really far too good for this - person. He needs to be Schooled.
I guess all the black-folk that Dick Dynasty Man knows were like this - Steppin Fetchit as 'Lazy Richard".
Apparently though, Megyn Kelly disagrees. She apparently thinks what he said is perfectly fine, and that perhaps, the true victim in all of this - is Mr. Peterson Robertson.
Fox News host Megyn Kelly said the decision to place Robertson on hiatus was made in haste.
“Is he ever coming back? It remains to be seen, but that will certainly shut down debate,” Kelly said. “There really won’t, I mean, he’s a Christian man — I grant you, he did not say this in the kindest way – but why can’t there be a debate about it? Why can’t there be a back-and-forth, a discussion — you know, that’s how he feels, and you say how you feel, instead of saying, ‘You are fired, you are basically canned.’”
“No one else will feel comfortable saying similar things,” she warned.
Yeah, let's talk about exactly how much loving another human being and wanting to spend and devote your entire life to them, is just like
Fucking a Goat. That's her idea of a tasteful, "discussion", pity the poor people who want to have a serious sober discussion of
Goat Fucking - they just might now, because of a big-bad corporate person called A&E, feel a tad bit
uncomfortable about saying such things in front of anyone who might be LGBT, or for that matter,
Sane.
Or Black People who just might not think that Jim Crow was "Just Swell". Who felt "Happier" then, without the right to Vote or Work in the Field of their Choice, or to have a fair chance for a Housing Loan or to rent the apartment they want or for that matter - To Survive.
Yeah, I'm not thinking these should be valid topics for discussion in 2013, but apparently to conservatives - it is. They feel that as long as someone doesn't say something like - "Kill the Fags and Niggers" then it's just fine.
Because if some TV star - even in Russia - were to say that'd like to Shove All The Gays Into an Oven, clearly Conservatives would object? Wouldn't they?
Wouldn't they?
“You should be able to say what you want short of inciting violence,” Crowley said. “A&E, though, has certain standards in practices. As an employee of A&E, A&E then has a right to say, ‘what he said doesn’t suit us.’”
Right, Robertson didn't suggest violence, he just said being gay was about the same as being a rapist, who are usually punished - if they aren't wracked with a bad case of
affluenza - with years in prison, or an adulterer for which the punishment in his religion under Leviticus - IS DEATH. He only said that he never heard or saw a black person ever complain about having dogs and fire hoses set on them by someone like Bull Connor. They all
liked how things used to be back then. Nope. He didn't incite a lick of violence there.
But Megyn [Snow-White Santa] Kelly wasn't the only Conservative or Fox News Pundit to weigh in on this.
Another Fox News host, Sean Hannity, complained the disciplinary actions against Robertson established a “slippery slope,” ...
“Phil Robertson is a new American hero,” said [Christian] broadcaster Bryan Fischer, of the American Family Association, in a series of Twitter posts. “He said exactly what the great majority of Americans believe. Phil Robertson is right. It’s a simple matter of plumbing. Easy to figure out what is supposed to go where. And where not.”
Simply a matter of plumbing? Gays are all about
The Sex, not the Love, not the Devotion, not the Commitment, not the Sharing and spending moments together? It's just plumbing?
Well, that tells us just what that guys love life is like, now how about the rest of us? How about Mr. Dick, what did he say about plumbing to GQ?
“It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”
Yeah, he was just 'thinking", sure.
And of course, Sarah the Half-Term Nitwit had to chime in.
“Free speech is endangered species; those ‘intolerants’ hatin’ & taking on Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing personal opinion take on us all,” Palin tweeted.
Oh, so people are "Hatin" on someone who decided to express a personal opinion that their right for reciprocal love of the consenting adult of their mutual choice - is the same as people randomly hooking up and horse screwing? That black people were
better off and happier when they were completely blocked for access to most of civil society? Really? Poor Mr. Duck is a "Victim" in all this because a major corporation doesn't want to give him money and free access to their airwaves anymore?
But guess what, even Governor Blood Libel didn't take the cake on this one. Get a load of what one Fox News Guest said.
Fox News host Martha MacCallum asked radio host Mike Slater if it was right for A&E to get its “ruffles up” and suspend Robertson...
“He was asked, what in your mind is a sin?” Slater noted. “It’s the bizarre hypocrisy from [LGBT rights group] GLAAD in particular. They want tolerance for their sexuality, but they are not willing to be tolerant of, in this case, Phil’s Christianity.”
Not willing to be "Tolerant" of what, someone who refuses to be tolerant of them? How's that particular circle-jerk of self-loathing supposed to work? "I will tolerate, those who will not tolerate me - because gee they just might
have a point?" But wait, it got worse.
“In 1958, a young boy wrote a preacher a letter, saying that he was struggling with homosexuality,” Slater said. “And this preacher wrote back, ‘Son, don’t worry, there’s a solution to your problem.’ That preacher was Martin Luther King Jr.”
“I guarantee you that Martin Luther King Jr. loves that boy just like Robertson [family],” he added. “The point is the Robertson family loves everyone, that’s the point here.”
I pretty much guarantee who that they
Don't have anything in common with Dr. King - particularly when he said specifically that
Black People were Happier with Jim Crow.
The Robertson's Love everyone? Ok, but what about this portion of his interview which comes directly after the bestiality quote?
Then he paraphrases Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”
Yet what Corinthians says next is this, which Dick chose not to quote.
Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
It's not that he should consider the consequence of his words and how that would affect A&E's corporate branding. It's not that organizations that agree with him, like the Mississippi school that forced a
"Pathetic Dyke" to use the Boys Bathroom should have thought twice first? Or perhaps that there might have been some pause to the "Christian" Camp Counselor who said she
molested gay girls to "show them God's Love".
Now, he's going to have to go try and make living with Ducks?
Boo-Fing-Hoo.
Hey, I know, now that's he's been unfairly targeted and fired by Da Man, he should try and git himself some welfare. That's how the darkies do it, don't they? That is when they're not singing dat Blues.
