My daughter was telling me about a program at school for which I am grateful for.
I started looking and this is all over partnered with elementary schools and this is a shame and disgrace that the richest country in the world has hungry children and families.
The greed and wealthy say, " We don't need food stamps" We can cut it. Just in Utah , some Gestapo person threw food out last week because hungry kid'a guardian or parents could not pay their lunch bill.
My daughter told me about ( Joey..a fictional name) getting his back pack filled for the weekend so the family would not be hungry over the weekend. How is that WE ARE JUST FINE..working out for your Rick Scott? Blessing Bags started by two children in the Florida area started raising funds to donate toothbrushes, combs, food, etc.
Tell me again how this is not a depression and how we are doing well in the land of pletny because I ain't buying it !!!!
We have been giving beans and rice to one of our neighbors for 4 weeks since her food stamps was cut to six dollars. SIX DOLLARS !!!! Two kids and her partner out of work and she has MS.
Just this week, I arranged a funeral for a former Captain of the Army wno died from pneumonia and did have brain cancer. Till seven this morning, we cleaned the house, helping his daughter from West Palm and an elderly mother. My older daughter mopped and scrubbed floors as I had finished giving the forms regarding DIC along with Jack talking to the family.. No one showed up at the Captain's home and he was very active in several organizations but not one member came.. (I don't understand). They knew and gave their sympathies but that is as far as it went.
We helped the widow and orphan call thrift shops and get some money up for the family regarding furniture he had left behind so they could get back home and we collapsed early this AM as that sad family is making their way back to South Florida. Our other neighbor is cooking rice and beans again tonight and I invited the little girls over for some Ramien noodles and applesauce.
The food pantries are going bust in most places and there just isn't enough to go around for all those making do with less.
THIS IS NOT how it is supposed to be with that General welfare clause from out founding fathers. We surely hear plenty about the common defense.
I have a migrane today. WE are good neighbors and we try to help but there are too many. Rick Scott and his greedy republican minons have made it near impossible to live in Florida. I see despair every single day. I am sure you do too. Sometimes I just feel like getting a huge black pot and putting it in the front yard and having stone soup.
There are so many homeles, hungry and those of helpless feelings right here in the United States, not to mention Florida. Why don't the president sign an executive order to raise the tax on the rich.....It is past time.
BRONSON - A toothbrush, soap, deodorant… Everyday items most of us have lying around at home, but for some people these things are a luxury.
As the holiday season falls upon us we find ourselves more appreciative of family friends and our homes. However, according to the Alachua County Coalition for the Homeless and Hungry there are about 2094 homeless people in Alachua County alone, that may not have some of these things to be thankful for.
Two teenage boys in Bronson, Breydon who's 13 years old and Devon 16 years old don't take for granted the little things they have. Brendon says, "I think people that take this stuff for granted, sometimes they get mad if they don't get what they want but they probably don't understand the people on the side of the road, they don't get what they want. Sometimes they go days without eating. I think they should just pitch in a little." Devon adds, "We kind of know what it's like to have stuff and they don't have anything so why not just spread it around, let everyone get what they need?"
The boys are collecting snacks, hygiene products and accepting donations to put together "Blessing Bags." With 93 likes on their page already they're using Facebook to bring awareness to the cause. Their mom is also helping out by making jewelry, jewelry that when they sell all profits will go towards this project.
Two days before Christmas the boys are planning to bring their blessing bags here to gainesville in order to pass them out in the streets of downtown and in places like St. Francis House.
While the boys cant find a house or a job for the homeless population, a small act of giving such as this one, may encourage them and go a long way they say. "I mean it don't take much… They got a few things to make them feel clean, make them feel presentable to where they can at least talk to somebody."
Here are some links and I am more than frustrated. My mind raced back to the Friday school days at the little elementary school... I am totally ashamed of this state of affairs . I hate that the rich are getting richer and the poor are suffering.. Well, not just the poor in the streets but those on fixed incomes and middle class. We, like others get paid on the 1st and broke on the 5th...Common story. I am just out of words for these greedy #$:%K^ .... who are allowing this to happen in America .Fill in the blanks....I have, and they are classless, greedy, selfish pigs.
