The legislature in South Carolina just passed a law designating the Woolly Mammoth (which went extinct 50,000 years ago) as their state fossil. That is great except that one state senator in a fit of total stupid would not let the bill through without attaching a piece of religious crap to it.
The bill now rules that the Mammoth is the state fossil but that it was created on the sixth day of creation with all of the other beasts of the field 6,000 years ago. I am sick of this crap. It is ruining the pool of intelligence in this country that these idiots are allowed to make laws.
Let me qualify that “idiot” designation that I ascribe to these idiots. They all say that they don't need science because they have faith in the word of the lord. Then they go out and massacre every practice of true science to try and prove their “faith”. First, if you need to prove “faith” you just disproved it. Faith by its very definition is without proof. If you can prove something you don't need faith. Second faith, if it is not a momentary leap into the unknown is being abused. If I have faith in that something I am going to do is safe but have no proof then I should do it. Then I will know whether or not my assumption was true. Then guess what … I don’t need faith anymore because I now know what will happen. The word faith is severely abused today. If all you have is faith in something you claim to believe in then fine for you, but if you truly believed in it you would not need faith. Those that impose their unfounded, unprovable beliefs on others are idiots because they actually do know that they don't really know what they are talking about they are just holding on to it for what ever reason they choose to do so.
That is not faith that is STUPID!!!!
CORRECTION: I do need to correct the statement that the Species in question went extinct 50,000 years ago. It was probably 10,000 years ago. It did indeed thrive 50,000 years ago. One should always double check one's work especially when writing enraged :) ... That of course neither lessens or changes the reason for my outrage. It is the all too often presence of the attempted occlusion of science with dogma.
