"Shhhhhhh... Be vewy, vewy quiet!"
- Elmer Fudd
Gun toters aiming their AR-15s at agents of the federal government. Gun toters talking about "making a stand" and yammering on about "freedoms and liberties" while asserting their Second Amendment rights. Gun toting "militia" members "standing guard" with their AR-15s and other weapons on full display while a clueless, ignorant, asshat freeloader stands at a podium saying he doesn't believe the United States of America has jurisdiction over the land in question, but Clark County does. The same asshat demanding that the local sheriff disarm all federal agents involved in the stand-off.
And what have we heard from our local RKBA "liberals" about these embarrassingly ignorant morons?
We've heard that the idiot lying prone in the road with the barrel of his AR-15 stuck in the crack between two concrete barriers is a fool, because he really couldn't shoot much of anything from that position.
And we've heard comments like this:
A front pager dreams of a violent statist regime (1+ / 0-)
Using drones to kill gun owners and got recs... So this is not surprising.

We've also heard, over and over, from a number of RKBA members, particularly the gun toters, that they should have the right to own and carry as much firepower as law enforcement officers (LEOs). Because, well, tyranny. (Sounds familiar, doesn't it?)
But besides a few comments here and there...
Radio silence.
Not one RKBA diary here about the gun issues in the Bundy ranch stand-off. Not a peep from the leader of RKBA, a gun toter himself, and a big proponent of open and concealed carry. And has this event even been mentioned over on the forums of the Liberal Gun Club (cough), where their motto isn't, but should be:
More liberal than the NRA.
On everything except guns.
Certainly, there are differences of opinion among our local RKBA contingent about gun laws. And the gun toters among them are the most adamant about having the right to carry their weapons with them, pretty much wherever they go. In fact, a number of gun toters who frequent this place have argued that we should have "national reciprocity" -- that is, a federal law that would allow them to tote their guns, either concealed or open carry, from state to state, regardless of state restrictions.
So while we have these yahoos in the Nevada desert screeching about "freedoms and liberties" and "the Second Amendment!", we get the very same thing here from some our resident gun fanciers.
Not a word from anyone in RKBA-ville about the laws (that a number of RKBA members here actively promote) that allow dumbfucks like that clown with his gun barrel stuck in the crack and his "militia" brethren to walk around with their weapons on open display.
That's what this country's insane gun policies have wrought. All of these phony tough guys, toting their weapons and threatening officials and others with them.
That's America today, thanks to the NRA, the gun makers and their elected toadies.
With the support, apparently, of a whole bunch of "liberal" gun toters.
Because we haven't heard a word from them about just how crazy this shit is.
And it's crazy. It's stupid. It's incredibly stupid. The rest of the civilized world laughs at us and our sepia-toned visions of the "old west."
And it's stupid because it is driven, quite simply, by an industry that doesn't give a rat's ass who gets a gun as long as they get a sale. It's not about "freedoms and liberties." It's about money. Period. And a lot of chumps are along for the ride, apparently, doing the bidding of the people who reap huge profits off of this bullshit pablum about the "right to keep and bear arms" and the "right" to tote your gun wherever you go. At all times.
I don't think the founders intended what we are witnessing in Nevada. A bunch of ignorant jackasses aiming their semi-automatic rifles at authorities and posing like a bunch of phony macho cowboys. But, hell, I'm sure I'll hear all about Second Amendment rights from the usual suspects.
But on the Bundy ranch episode, the silence here has been deafening. Or revealing. Take your pick.
