A couple months ago, I put in a quick word for my friend Dan LaVallee, who's running for Congress in NW Pennsylvania. He's going to unseat Tea Partier Mike Kelly in PA's third Congressional district (N Pittsburgh up to Erie).
The big news is that Dan has "won" the Democratic nomination (others dropped off the ballot), so he'll be the Democratic candidate against Kelly in the Fall election. (I'm not going to supply links, but a quick Google search "Tea Party Mike Kelly" provides a good indication of the type of politics Dan's fighting against.)
It looks like Dan's campaign is starting to pick up momentum with local newspapers and some union endorsements in the area, such as this one from the iron workers as reported by Erie's ABC station:

The candidate challenging Republican Congressman Mike Kelly gets a big endorsement.
Ironworkers Local Union Number Three is endorsing Democratic Dan Lavallee.
25-hundred members make up the union.
Lavallee is the only person left on the democratic side to run against the incumbent.
Union leadership says they made the endorsement because of Lavallee's commitment to working class values.
Please consider
donating to his campaign at his website. A key issue for Dan, because he's young, will be getting attention and support from national organizations. I know he'd love to build a base of small donors from the district, but national support will also be important.
I'm not from PA, and I don't have any connection with his campaign, so I can't really answer policy questions on Dan's behalf. His Facebook page illustrates some of the groups who are supporting him. I know he's strongly pro union and pro equality. His campaign theme is grounded in trying to improve the local economy.
And I can certainly recommend my other diary as an endorsement of Dan's character and good will. I think he has a real chance to win this cycle if enough people turn out to show how fed up they are with Tea Party obstruction of our economy. And he's building a great base in the district to help build Democratic support for the 2016 Presidential election.
Here's a link dump below, and some news articles.
Please consider helping Dan's campaign by sending these links to friends in PA, or others who you think might be able to help.
Thanks very much.
