I'm from Pennsylvania (I live in California now) and Rick Santorum (R. PA) sadly was my U.S. Senator for twelve years. Well I received this e-mail from Senator Mark Udall's (D. CO) campaign highlighting Santorum endorsement of Tea Party Rep. Cory Gardner (R. CO):
A flashlight. That’s what Mark gave me when he hired me to be the campaign’s Women for Udall Director. My job, he said, is to shine light on the truth about Mark’s record of protecting women compared to Congressman Gardner’s harmful agenda. Well, it must be a lucky flashlight because I uncovered something Congressman Gardner was trying to hide.
Remember Rick Santorum? The former anti-contraception U.S. Senator recently endorsed Congressman Cory Gardner for U.S. Senate. It’s a move that surprised no one — especially when you consider Santorum’s ultra-conservative PAC says enacting the Personhood initiative is a top priority.
Congressman Gardner’s record mirrors Santorum’s so closely, he may as well be wearing a Santorum sweater vest. Whether it’s fighting to overturn Roe v. Wade, supporting the Personhood effort that would ban common forms of birth control, or voting against allowing same-sex couples to adopt children, Congressman Gardner has followed in Santorum’s extreme footsteps.
Despite Santorum’s extreme stance on choice issues, he beat Gov. Mitt Romney and won Colorado in the 2012 Republican Presidential primary. Please give $5 today to help ensure Gardner doesn’t repeat Santorum’s victory in Colorado.

In 2011, Santorum warned of "the dangers of contraception in this country." According to Santorum, contraception is “not OK,” but rather, “a license to do things in the sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be."
And it’s not just Santorum’s anti-choice record that offends me. His anti-equality stance is just as disturbing. For Santorum, it’s “common sense” that same-sex couples shouldn’t be allowed to adopt children. In the same vein, Congressman Gardner voted against a bill that would allow same-sex couples to jointly adopt children.
Congressman Gardner may be hiding from his record, but Rick Santorum’s endorsement speaks truth to Gardner’s anti-choice and anti-equality positions. Please give $5 today to help us bring Congressman Gardner’s extreme beliefs into the light.

Congressman Gardner’s flipping and contorting on Personhood may help him win a game of Twister, but he can’t hide from his extreme anti-choice record. As Mark’s new Women for Udall Director, it’s my job to shine light on areas of Congressman Gardner’s record he’d rather keep secret
Looking forward to keeping in touch,
Kim Howard | Women for Udall Director
