A daily series, Connect! Unite! Act! seeks to create face-to-face networks in each congressional district. Groups regularly socialize but also get out the vote, support candidates and engage in other local political actions that help our progressive movement grow and exert influence on the powers-that-be. Visit us every morning at 7:30 A.M. Pacific Time to see how you can get involved. The comment thread is fun and light-hearted, but we're serious about moving the progressive political agenda forward.

When Our Side Votes, We Win!
From Markos's diary this past February about if Democratic base voters turn out, we win, we have the purpose of our campaign here at Connect! Unite! Act!
I sound like a broken record, and I'll continue to do so until November: If Democratic base voters turn out, we win. [...]
President Barack Obama won with a pure base mobilization strategy. Even more dramatically, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe did so as well in Virginia—a southern border state. There are simply more of us than there are conservatives, and as long as we turn out, happy things will happen. But, of course, our voters are the least likely to turn out, and that disadvantage is amplified in off-year non-presidential elections. [...]
In Georgia, Democrats estimate that there are nearly 600,000 unregistered African Americans. Romney won the state by 300,000 in 2012. Compounding the problem, Democrats also estimate that about 600,000 Georgians who voted for Obama won't turn out in 2014 on their own initiative to vote for Democratic Senate candidate Michelle Nunn. [...]
There are more base Democrats in Georgia than conservatives. If we get them to vote, we win. [...]
Many states show registered Democratic voters as the majority. We need to maximize that fact. Each of us, the readers of Daily Kos, needs to do whatever we can to get-out-the-vote each election. My efforts are to connect Kossacks to their local network, encourage their bonding to work together and then support their action to help win elections in our favor and change our nation for the better.
With that, I'm going to feature a state periodically to help them attract attention and add members to their ranks. You, as a reader, can help by noticing and directing various commenters in any diary to join any of our regional groups.
Florida currently has
Kossacks hunting for other members here at Daily Kos. So we'll kick-off this action with them.
The State of Florida is being organized by Vetwife with the group DKos Florida and its 43 members.
One other group has recently gelled, Northern Central Florida with nine members. This group is currently being organized by Vetwife but eventually she'll need captains to take over for her for the Northern region which will need to be split into three northern groups. Vetwife lives in the Central region which can also be split into three regions and will also need leaders under her.
If you'd like to organize one of these regions please contact Vetwife and let me know, also.
The newest region is South Florida with a brand-new leader, JDWolverton. Please contact her to connect with other Kossacks.
