House Republicans allocate $350,000 toward their lawsuit against President Obama

The House of Representatives has hired Baker & Hostetler, one of America’s largest law firms, to the tune of $500 an hour, but a total not to exceed $350,000, to represent the lower chamber in its lawsuit against President Obama. [...]

The House Committee on Administration Monday released a contract it approved that disclosed the details of the agreement. David B. Rivkin, partner, is named as the principal attorney for the lawsuit.

While $350,000 may sound like a lot of money to the uninitiated, it probably won't go very far. With luck, it might be enough for the crack team of lawyers to figure out what, precisely, they're supposed to be suing the president for; "doing the thing we demanded he do" still seems a bit weak. Or, more likely, the time will be spent tweaking the language in increasingly desperate attempts to convince Americans that suing the president was a good idea.

Remember, even if House Republicans "win" this lawsuit they either strengthen Obamacare regulations or, more likely, get nothing at all. The $350,000 is a slush fund to keep the "issue" alive through election season, but I don't personally think Boehner or the other lawsuit proponents want to "win" the thing. They just need to draw it out a bit in order to please the small group of base voters that is still sore that nobody's listening to their demands to impeach the Democratic president outright.
