DeShawn Currie, right, and his foster father
DeShawn Currie, a teenage African-American foster son in a white family, was reported as a burglar by a neighbor who called 911 in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, when the teenager entered his own home after school this week. After his entry, police barged in to confront him. Completely confused by the incident, Currie was sprayed with pepper spray in the face as he tried to explain that he lived there and had his own room.
In the video below the fold, Currie and his family discuss the incident, which has tragically caused the teenager to fear for his safety in his new home.
