Feeder watch, that is ...
The Daily Bucket is a regular feature of the Backyard Science group. It is a place to note any observations you have made of the world around you. Insects, weather, meteorites, climate, birds and/or flowers. All are worthy additions to the bucket. Please let us know what is going on around you in a comment. Include, as close as is comfortable for you, where you are located. Each note is a record that we can refer to in the future as we try to understand the patterns that are quietly unwinding around us.

Feeder Watch has begun and, of course, nothing much has changed, except:
There is an incentive to pay extra attention to what is going on outside.
There is an incentive to make sure that the feeders are kept full and
There is an incentive to make sure that the fountain-bird-bath is sufficiently full and running smoothly.
As a result, by the time I had finished my shower on a lazy, slept in, morning, I had already seen a chickadee, a titmouse, multiple american and lesser goldfinches, never aggregating more than 2 of each at a time, a California Towhee, and many housefinches, with the maximum aggregation standing at 6 so far. The latter (HOFI) are also indulging in disputatious behavior on occasion.
