With the holidays rapidly approaching and Aji not technologically able to post on Daily Kos at the moment, I asked for and received her permission to bring you some of Wings newest creations. In addition, I'll highlight some of the works by other Native artists that Wings carries, reasonably priced for holiday gifts. This will be a photo heavy diary (all images taken from Wings website, used with permission). Follow me below the orange ribbon for Wings latest.
I'm going to start with one of my favorites, a new pair of earrings called "Warm Blue Rain":
$425 + s/h/i
These coordinate with a new necklace of his,
"A Little Jar of Rain":
$625 + s/h/i
From Aji,
It's an homage to history, a prayer for the present, a tribute to the life-sustaining element of water in the desert.
Another new entry in the necklace category,
"Spirits in the Wind", is alive with the vibrant colors of rosarita (gold slag), lapis lazuli, and green turquoise. To me, it practically dances:
$1850 + s/h/i
Speaking of dancing, Wings has a figurative piece; a rarity from him,
according to Aji. Called
"Kachina", he is
an elder among elders, a dancer, a long-haired spirit being. This figurative piece combines multiple natural elements with an inspiriting sense of motion to create a single dynamic, unifying form.
$2200 + s/h/i
Lest you start despairing that everything is out of your price range, let me show you some of the reasonably priced items from other Native artists that Wings carries. I think my favorite of these is
"Grandmother Turtle", from Wings' personal collection:
$65 + s/h/i
Wings' niece, Camille Bernal, is an accomplished artist in her own right. Wings has several pieces of her pottery,
including this beauty:
$135 + s/h/i
Wilson Appa is a Native Vietnam veteran, and
several of his miniature pots are featured in Wings' gallery:
$40 + s/h/i
Randy Roughface, a nephew of the late Carter Camp, does vintage-style carvings, and has several
animal spirits available, like this Wild Mustang:
$155 + s/h/i
or this Eagle:
$125 + s/h/i
I'll close with a selection of
Bangle Bracelets Wings created for his
One Man Show earlier this year:
$325 + s/h/i
A last note: Wings does take commissions, although if you want to commission something in time for Christmas, Aji says they would need to have that info by this weekend.
