I donât remember the same outrage and blaming of politicians and protesters back in June when two âPatriotsâ left the Bundy Battlefield and ambushed and killed two Las Vegas police officers.
This is my first diary, I been visiting DKos daily for a quite a while, but never posted a diary before. Also, my time is limited, so I may not be able to keep up with comments, but I'll try.
Edit 12/23 10:35pm CST: Wow! Rec list! Thanks! It had to happen on a day where I had zero time to do anything but skim headlines. This diary would not have been possible if not for the work of several DK diarists who had covered the antics on the Bundy compound in detail this past spring, especially TeamSarah4Choice, who covered these "mentally unbalanced people who are allowed to stay there with weapons" in detail. If it were not for those diarists, I would not have known about any of this to be able to see the similarity of the two killings and the completely hypocritical reactions by the media and conservative politicians.

Quite the contrary, as soon as it was found that the killers were on the Bundy Battlefield, the media put distance between them, the Bundy protests and the Tea Party as well as right wing militias. Hardly a mention was made of the connection after Ammon Bundy told the media:

But the link to the Tea Party movement was also downplayed as the act of two deranged individuals who do not represent the entire Tea Party movement.
Soon. More evidence emerged that the cop killers hated the government and the police.

But no one called for the politicians and media figures who fueled the Tea Party and Bundy Revolutionâs anti-government rhetoric for these two cops deaths to resign.
Las Vegas PD did not turn their backs on Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval and Sen. Dean Heller and other conservative politicians who publicly supported Bundy and his heavily-armed, government-hating militia.
In fact, Fox News barely mentioned the killings. No other network mentioned it very much by midweek. There certainly was no hand wringing over Republican politicians support for The Cliven Bundy Show.

The media downplayed the connection for the ones who actually had contact with and lived with the main figure in their protest. One even gave an interview to local TV News stating his support for media hero Cliven Bundy. But they are downplayed as being too radical for the people at the Bundy protest and were asked to leave.
In the other case, the media immediately links the cop killer to the protesters in the other incident because the killer made an Instagram post that mentioned the main figures in the protest. Even tho he never met Mike Brown or Eric Gardner or their families, let alone lived on their property and ate their food or gave interviews on their behalf from their backyards.
The media bought Ammon Bundyâs bullshit about the couple being licked off the ranch because they were too radical. However, interviews with people at the ranch have stated they were plenty of crazies on the ranch and no one was asked to leave for being too radical. The story that has stuck in the media is the one about them being too radical, even tho Ammon Bundy himself said "Not very many people were asked to leave," he said. "I think they may have been the only onesâ
Itâs hard to be more radical, degranged and paranoid than the people in charge at the Bundy compound.
As you can see in this video, the cop killers were not the only ones asked to leave the Bundy battlefield. This video, from the âmentally unbalanced people who are allowed to stay thereâ, was made about a month before the Vegas cop killings, shows the Bundy battlefield commanders discussing the Oath Keepers who had just been kicked out for being spies for the Obama Administration.

So, not only were other people asked to leave the ranch, those people state that they were concerned that they had given tons of ammo to âmentally imbalanced people who are allowed to stay thereâ.
Now, this is coming from some mentally unbalanced people, so for them to be saying that the people still on the Bundy Ranch in May were mentally unbalanced⦠wellâ¦

But in the media today we hear that Obama has âengaged in âpropagandaâ encouraging people to âhate the policeââ with no credible link what-so-ever of the NYC killer to anyone connected to the police brutality protests.
