New dash cam footage shows unarmed NJ man shot nine times by two officers

Video and audio released by the Bridgeton Police Department on Tuesday shows officers Braheme Days and Roger Worley ordering Jerame Reid not to move before Reid appears to push his way out of the passenger side door. The video appears to show Reid with his hands in front of him as he stands to get out of the car and is shot and killed by the officers.

The altercation with police, which began with a traffic stop, escalated in a matter of two minutes as police described finding a gun, according to the video which was recorded on a patrol car's dashboard camera that was released after an Open Public Records request.

Yes, being an officer isn't easy. Yes, officers approach cars for simple stops with no idea what to expect. However, all indications from the video suggests that Jerame Reid got out of the vehicle, peacefully and unarmed, when he was shot and killed in a barrage of bullets.

Early eyewitnesses who had not yet seen the video, seem to confirm what it shows.

Tahli Dawkins, who was taking out his recycling at the time of the shooting, told NBC10 he witnessed the incident.

"He had nothing in his hands," Dawkins said. "He had his hands up trying to get out of the car, one on the door was getting out like this and he just started shooting him."

Reid had a three-month-old son, according to his cousin Keesha Springs.

"He was a good kid," Springs said. "He had a troubled past but after that he became a good person. I love my cousin. Everybody has their bad times and he had his bad times. But he was very lovable."
