First of all, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Trina Sonnenberg. I am 48 years old and have been around the block a time or two. I am a married mother of two adult children. I write what I think and don't have a problem with those who would disagree with me. I do have a problem with rudeness though, so if you don't like what I have to say and can't help but be rude, don't read me.
I firmly believe that any company that receives corporate welfare should be barred from political donations of any kind. If they can afford to dump millions of dollars into a campaign, they certainly don't need our tax dollars for their companies. Rather than subsidizing everyone with a potential business, whether it be Wal-Mart or a cattle rancher, that money could go to actually help people who need help. I am one of those people.
My husband and I have been tax payers for decades, yet we have very little to show for it.
Why is it that our government gives free money to tax dodgers without batting an eye, but if you need food, your whole life becomes an open book to the government whether or not you pay taxes? The government seems to be more concerned with whether or not I pay my taxes, than whether or not multi-national corporations pay theirs. What is the deal with that? I think that corporations that hide their money and do not pay taxes here, are un-American. Period. We should all stop buying their crap until they cough up tax dollars. If these guys paid what they should, we would not have the budget woes that we currently have. We'd have more money for their precious war chest. We'd have more money for health care and education. Plainly put, we'd all have more. The problem is that the elitists don't want to share. They want a free ride while telling the poor people to go get a job. How does one get a job when they have all been shipped overseas by the very companies who refuse to pay taxes? They get welfare, why can't we? They get millions of dollars worth of welfare, while we fight for $500 bucks worth of food each month, they don't pay any taxes and they call themselves American? That is crazy.
I think that if a company wants to be an American company, they should have to produce their goods here and pay taxes here, otherwise, they should get the Hell out of my country! Cut off the corporate welfare, and this nation could save a lot of money. Make them pay their taxes, or tell them to take a hike. Corporations are sucking this country dry and we the people are the ones who suffer for it. That is anti-American if you ask me. Our corporate welfare makes countries like China, rich. The government gives away money to companies who produce their goods off shore, to companies who refuse to pay a living wage, and are we better off for it? No, they are; the corporations are sitting on a huge pile of cash, so how can we be broke?
What ever happened to, 'We are all in this together?'
Politics isn't about republicans vs democrats, it is more about corporations vs everyone else. We are a nation of corporate interests and no one seems to care about the people who do the buying, or working. That must change.
We need to stop rewarding Wall Street for crashing the economy and sart holding those people acountable. If I had been a part of that debacle, you'd better belive they'd have locked me up and they'd have thrown away the key, but these jokers got paid for what they did. They got paid handsomely. Why? They did a bad thing, not a good thing. I thought we punished bad behavior and rewarded the good. My mistake, I guess. I guess I raised mt kids backward.
When will this government work for everyone?
Why is it that the richest company in this country, Wal-mart, who owns more wealth then 42% of the rest of the country, gets $956 million in welfare per store they own? Six people in this country own more wealth than 42% of the remaining population, that's more than 135 million other people. Why do they get all this government help when poor people have to fight to get food stamps? That is not right.
Back when this country was young, the masters of industry also were very giving. They believed in philanthropy. What happened? In a word... Greed.
