Something curious about Daily Kos

I guess it didn't hit me until I started posting diaries on Daily Kos yesterday, but it seems to be a sport among some readers to trash contributors.

One of the things that conservatives find so annoying about liberals is our tendency to behave as if we're the smartest people on the planet. That wouldn't be so bad but quite a few liberals are really smug about it. Really cutting.

I have a thick skin and I shrug off most of the insults. I know I appear to be "new" here but I've been reading and commenting on Daily Kos for years, although I used another account until yesterday when I decided to be completely open about who I am and not hide behind a pseudonym.

(Why do so many Daily Kos members hide behind pseudonyms? Surely most of you don't have as much to lose as I do, living here in a very conservative city in Idaho where I am not protected by the law for my status as a lesbian, never mind that I'm "out" publicly as an atheist and a Socialist in a place where those things are really not popular. I find pseudonyms to be rather a "wuss" thing but maybe I'm missing out on some fun. Even my previous Daily Kos account was just my first two initials and my last name, though. Why hide?)

Anyway, I'm just sharing my random thoughts on the lack of grace I've been seeing on Daily Kos. Even though I have a thick skin that sort of thing kind of makes me not want to participate further. I can only imagine the contributors who've left the forum due to the absolutely unnecessary shit that people write about their contributions.
