The Center for Networked Systems at UC San Diego has just created a scholarship for LGBT students called the Alan Turing Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship supports Computer Science and Computer Engineering students who have made substantive contributions to the LGBT community.
The Alan Turing Memorial Scholarship includes $10k/year of support, making it one of the largest LGBT scholarships in the country. We have raised money to continue the scholarship for the next few years, and currently have a match campaign in place. Our hope is that this scholarship will recognize and increase the diversity of UCSD undergraduates, and help to recruit strong students who can make contributions within the field. We're trying to raise awareness of the need to increase diversity within the field of Computer Science.
UCSD is hosting a "kickstarter" like site for raising money for it: https://crowdsurf.ucsd.edu/...
