On the front page of today's Nevada Appeal there was an article that after months of saying that he isn't interested in the job that Governor Brian Sandoval (R) may now run for the senate seat of retiring Majority Leader Harry Reid.

More below the orange squiggle.
Governor Sandoval is very popular in Nevada to begin with and while definitely conservative falls into that increasingly rare category of not-totally-crazy Republican.
In fact with the adjournment of the Legislature yesterday he did what has become almost impossible in this day and age. He's a Republican governor who shepherded the largest tax increase in state history through a Republican controlled legislature (which is full of loonies) specifically for the purpose of funding education.
If he runs, the Republican nomination is his for the asking, he's that popular. And because of his popularity and his recent achievement former state Attorney General Catherine Cortez-Masto (D), Reid's choice to succeed him is going to be in for a very hard campaign.
