A daily series, Connect! Unite! Act! seeks to create face-to-face networks in each congressional district. Groups regularly socialize but also get out the vote, support candidates and engage in other local political actions that help our progressive movement grow and exert influence on the powers-that-be. Visit us at Daily Kos every morning at 7:30 A.M. Pacific Time to see how you can get involved. The comment thread is fun and light-hearted, but we're serious about moving the progressive political agenda forward.

Welcome to WHAT IF Wednesday!
WHAT IF... Candidates and Activists got together to change a State?
There's a current project underway in the state of Virginia to do exactly that.
See who has recently publicly supported the 90for90.org project.
It's called
90for90.org and it's an interesting concept.
In honor of Dr. William F. "Fergie" Reid's 90th birthday and his long history of expanding voters' rights, we commit to registering new voters for this years election.
If all volunteers and candidates worked together to register 90 new voters in each of the Commonwealth's precincts, our efforts would result in a quarter million new voters for the Old Dominion.
Dr. Wm Ferguson Reid, Sr.
They're calling for the candidates and Feets-in-the-streets Activists to join forces and add just 90 new registered voters per precinct this year.
Which would add an amazing Quarter Million new voters in the Old Dominion (the historic name for the state of Virginia).
Imagine, if you will, how much 250,000 new voters could change the results of the election in 2016...
In 2012 these were the final general election results for President:
Obama 1,971,820
Romney 1,822,522
Obama won, but only 51.1% to 47.2%
Thats a fairly slim margin. What Democrats can not afford in the upcoming presidential election is a fairly slim margin.
You know why? Because a fairly slim margin could leave us with another Democratic President and a Republican Congress. Which means another four years of obstruction. Four more years of nothing getting done.
This nation cannot afford another four years like the last four years.
Especially when up to 90% of the people tell pollsters they agree with Democratic policies!
So, please - as individuals, you can help the 90for90.org project by sharing their URL on Facebook and Twitter and other social media.
If you belong to an organization of any sort, please consider being listed on the 90for90.org website as a supporter of the idea that MORE REGISTERED VOTERS IS A GOOD THING.
That's all they're trying to achieve. Spreading the word and asking the Virginia candidates and activists to work together to register just 90 new voters in each precinct.
That's a campaign goal which I'd like to set in my District here in WA State, too.
Because 90 new voters in each of our precincts? They could put me in the US Congress!
as always...

Announcing Asheville, North Carolina as the location
for our next Regional Event! 9.26.15
Asheville, N.C. is the destination for September 26, 2015! DKos Asheville, the In-Real-Life group under the leadership of randallt, has been setting the example for other IRL groups across the nation regarding registering people to vote, getting out the vote, having a state open thread and setting up strategy conferences for their region. Because of this impressive leadership we've asked randallt to be the State Leader for all of North Carolina. We've got important work to do on the ground there and randallt has shown he's the person to make that happen.
All states are welcome to attend this event and if you do you can expect to meet Markos Moulitsas in person, as well as some of the Daily Kos staff. More details regarding this regional event will be shared in the future so please stay tuned to Connect! Unite! Act!
For now, SAVE THE DATE and spread the word!
navajo maintains the above event list. Kosmail her if you have any diaries
about your event or if you have changes or additions.
EVERYONE is welcome, tell us what you're working on,
share your show and tell, vent, whatever you want.
This is an open thread. Nothing is off topic.
