If you thought The Donald had gone as low as he could go on his racist crusade against undocumented immigrants, he's proven you wrong.
In a nod to the infamous 1988 Willie Horton ad deployed by Jeb!'s father against his hapless Democratic challenger Michael Dukakis, Trump is now turning the tables on Jeb!—linking his "act of love" comment about immigrants to three undocumented men who committed crimes. The Instagram video was posted to Trump's account Monday.
The ad cuts between Bush and mugshots of Francisco Sanchez, Santana Ganona, and Brian Omar Hyde, all of whom are undocumented immigrants linked to high profile murders in recent months.
"LOVE? FORGET LOVE [sic] IT'S TIME TO GET TOUGH!" the ad booms.
America Voice's Frank Sharry pointed out just how devastating the ad is to all Latinos in America, not just the undocumented.
“This is no joke. Immigration status is not something that can be discerned by looking at someone. As a result, Trump’s race-baiting threatens to create an atmosphere in which all 54 million Latinos in the U.S., most of whom are born in the U.S., feel targeted.
With one ad, Trump has focused suspicion on an entire ethnicity. It's both shameless and
fraught with danger.
