Last Sunday, God-fearing brain surgeon Dr. Ben Carson caused a bit of a stir when he suggested that Islam is not compatible with the U.S. Constitution.
This uncontroversial claim was quickly taken out of context by the liberal media, in an effort to smear the good doctor as some kind of bigot (the bad kind).
However, nothing could be further from the truth.
Carson is, first and foremost, a man of science—unlike the Pope.
And so, despite his deeply held belief that Islam is a wicked religion, and that all of its adherents are terrorists, in theory, Carson remains open to having a (second) Muslim president—with a few small conditions.
In order to satisfy the presidential eligibility requirements (as he understands them), a follower of Islam would only need to renounce his or her faith, and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
That seems reasonable—and perfectly in line with America's founding principles.

Christian radio host Rick Wiles claimed that President Obama used Muslim voodoo to win the 2012 election ... or something.
Leapfrogging off of GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson's claim that American voters would not vote for a Muslim president, a Christian broadcaster cast doubt on President Obama's re-election saying he doesn’t know anyone who voted for him.
According to Right Wing Watch, radio host Rick Wiles was speaking with Cliff Kincaid from Accuracy In Media about Carson's comments about Muslim presidents, when Wiles suggested that something "evil" went down when Obama defeated GOP candidate Mitt Romney in 2012.
"Barack Obama was speaking to empty coliseums, empty auditoriums," Wiles said. "Mitt Romney was attracting these huge, enthusiastic crowds. It was obvious there was momentum for the Romney campaign. So on election night with suddenly Obama to win re-election it was very weird, it was strange, it was like, where are these Obama supporters? I never met anybody that was enthusiastic about re-electing Obama and suddenly he wins re-election." [...]
Wiles went on to add that something seemed amiss to him on election night, saying, "There was just that feeling on Election Night, something really strange and weird and evil and corrupt just happened tonight."

Ted Cruz blamed Obama for Ben Carson's Islamophobia.
Republican presidential candidate and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said on Monday that President Obama is to blame for GOP rival Ben Carson's comment about Muslims. [...]
"I like Ben Carson. I think Ben is fantastic. I think a lot of people are just using this as an opportunity to smack him with a stick. My view is straightforward," Cruz said. "The Constitution says there shall be no religious test for holding public office, and I'm a constitutionalist, but I think this whole noise is obscuring the broader question."
"The broader question, and what I think Ben was trying to get at, is what are the consequences been in the last six and a half years of the Obama presidency?" Cruz stated. [...]
"Under the Constitution, there can be no religious test for holding public office. What there can be a test on is public policy views. You look at President Obama..." Cruz continued. "He has led an assault on religious liberty and particularly an assault on Christians.

RedState Editor-in-Chief Erick Erickson offered up a simple solution to Obama's persistent "Muslim problem."
Longtime RedState editor Erick Erickson wrote on his website Tuesday that there was "one simple thing" President Obama can do "to stop being accused of being a Muslim."
"Simple," Erickson wrote. "Act like a Christian." [...]
He wrote that he didn't buy into the conspiracy theory that Obama was a secret Muslim, but offered his own judgement of the President's faith.
He wrote:
Barack Obama keeps getting accused of being a closet muslim (sic) by some people. I actually don't think that’s true. I think Barack Obama is a secular atheist who only talked God and religion to get people to vote for him. [...]
If the President wants to stop being accused of being a muslim (sic), he should either fess up that he isn't a believer in anything other than himself or start acting like the Christian that he claims to be.
God bless America.
