Bill O'Reilly
The White House was
lit up in rainbow colors on Friday night to celebrate marriage equality ... and someone is sad—sorry, "surprised"—about it:
"I was a bit surprised to see the White House doing a victory lap using actual White House property on Friday," O'Reilly said on Monday night. "The people’s house was illuminated in rainbow colors to celebrate the gay marriage decision. What about all the Americans who believe that a redefinition of marriage is not the job of the Supreme Court?"
"All the Americans" who believe that are in fact a minority of Americans, and they're Americans who want to deprive other Americans of their right to marry. So, you know, I'm not too worried about their fee-fees being hurt by some lights.
O'Reilly said President Obama "did an 'in your face' to traditional Americans" with the White House display.
Rainbow lighting is an "in your face," really? Gentle colored lighting to celebrate an extension of marriage rights is aggressively confrontational? To "traditional Americans," at that. Because even when you're in the minority as public opinion
shifts rapidly in favor of equality, being a crusty bigot means some Republican somewhere will say you're a more authentic American than, say, Jack Evans, 85, and George Harris, 82 the Texas men who finally got to marry
after 54 years together.
