Does Donald Trump condone a major supporter’s comments that “Hillary Clinton should be put in the firing line and shot for treason”? Gosh, he really doesn’t know:
Q: One of your good friends and one of your biggest supporters here in New Hampshire, state Rep. Al Baldasaro, he’s here today. He said some controversial things over the last month or two about Hillary Clinton, suggesting she should be put in front of a firing squad for treason. What do you think about his comments? Do you condone them?
Trump: Well, I didn’t know that but I will tell you he’s a very fine person. He is a person that loves the military and loves the veterans. He is a man that, as far as veterans and veterans affairs goes, I don’t think anybody knows more than Al. He loves the veterans and what I really know about him is that nobody wants to take care of the veterans of this country, who have been treated horribly, more than Al. So that’s what I do know.
Q: But you don’t condone any comments?
Trump: I don’t know what he said. You’d have to show me what he said.
Translated Trump: Veterans. Veterans veterans veterans. Veteransveteransveterans veterans are popular, right? So if I just keep saying veterans I won’t have to answer the question? Veterans veterans I don’t know what he said there I answered it can we move on now?
He said “Hillary Clinton should be put in the firing line and shot for treason.” You were just told he suggested “she should be put in front of a firing squad for treason.” Close enough—and you really shouldn’t need to know more than “he said something in the general ballpark of Hillary Clinton and firing squad” to be ready to say you don’t condone that. Heck, you might even be willing to go all the way to “I disavow that,” but here’s Trump, not ready to go as far as not condoning. Like, he’s leaving open the possibility that he does condone putting Hillary Clinton in front of a firing squad for treason. Although since Trump himself has already suggested assassination as a remedy for a President Clinton, he’s not exactly in a position to get too huffy over a supporter who was at least talking about some kind of legal process in getting Clinton shot and killed.
Can you chip in $3 to help Hillary Clinton send Trump back to reality TV?
