Rep. Dave Brat Refuses to Debate Challenger Eileen Bedell
Eileen Bedell, Democratic candidate for Virginia’s 7th Congressional district, has received and accepted an invitation from the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce to discuss the concerns and priorities of the business community with Congressman Dave Brat. However on Friday, the Bedell campaign learned Rep. Brat has declined this invitation.
Despite Congressman Brat’s refusal to meet with the Chamber and his lack of interest in discussing the issues important to our business community, I will continue listening to the needs of the people in our District, including those running businesses,” said Ms. Bedell. “As a business owner myself, I believe it is vital that all government representatives understand the challenges, priorities, and aspirations of our business community. When our local business partners succeed, our entire District succeeds. I look forward to continuing my conversation with the business leaders of Virginia and I hope that Congressman Brat will take the time to return to his District and discuss these important issues with us. The people of the 7th deserve to know what their Congressman has been doing with their tax dollars.
Who refuses an invitation from the Chamber of Commerce to debate? Could there be a more conservative group?
Ms. Bedell attended law school at the College of William & Mary and began her practice in central Virginia nearly 20 years ago. She has always focused her work on the representation of individuals and small businesses, helping them navigate the legal process and ensuring their interests are protected when it matters most. As both a small business owner and a mother, Ms. Bedell lives the challenges Virginians face every day juggling the desire for economic security with devotion to family and a commitment to setting the right example for our children to follow in the future. With the support of her husband and children, she looks forward to representing, fighting for, and protecting the interests of all the citizens of Virginia’s 7th congressional district.

Attorney General Mark Herring Endorses Eileen Bedell for Congress
“Eileen Bedell represents the kind of responsible leadership Virginia's 7th district needs and deserves in Washington. I am proud to support and endorse Eileen because she understands, as both a mother and small business owner, that moving Virginia forward takes representatives in Congress who will work together to strengthen our economy and keep our Commonwealth a safe place for Virginia families to live and work. We can't afford any more of the divisive, ideological politics that gridlocks Washington.”
Lt. Governor Ralph Northam Endorses Eileen Bedell for Congress
