I had to go to the pharmacy. I had just said, I was taking a break from politics for a bit when lo and behold I came up on about 7 people on both sides of the road, yelling and hollering… Vote Trump !!!! Vets for Trump !!! It really got to me to see the honks blowing for them I guess. BIG signs.. Vets for Trump… Small sign that said Trump /Pence but signs and yelling at motorists just the same. I pulled into Walgreens and they were not in the parking lot but on the side of the street.
I had a headache. I saw an elderly lady shaking, “ She was inside her car saying, Are those people for Trump”? I said yes Mam...scary isn’t it? She said sitting in her car… and said,Terrifying and so loud and obnoxious.
I told my little girl to sit in the car and I had a piece of paper and pen. I walked right into their little crowd and held up my homemade sign...SOMETHING I HAVE NEVER DONE BEFORE IN ANY ELECTION…. CLINTON FOR VETS 2016…..I stood there. A male Trump supporter approached me and said, “ Are you a vet”? I said, I am a veteran’s advocate and my husband is a vet ! He said, “ How in the world can he be for Hillary”? I said, Because he swore to defend this country from all enemies FOREIGN and DOMESTIC and she is for the Vets.. Not Trump. He said, “ Are you kidding”...I said, “ Do you think a man with 5 deferments cares about veterans?” You watch too much Fox. I still stood. Paper over my head. They were yelling and screaming and he being the spokesman I guess still had no answers. He said, “ We are patriots”. I said, “ So are we”. A vote for Clinton is a vote for veterans. I don’t vote for Russian and Putin People. He stood there and I stood there. Horns were honking, still. I did not move. He said with a smile, “ Well this is America and you have your right. I said, YOU BET I DO.
That man don’t care about you but you have been deceived by a con. He said, “ Good Luck”...I said, “ We are strong and we won’t back down”. He just stood there without another word. He walked back to where he was standing with his little crowd. I walked back to the elderly lady and said, “ That was for you”. She smiled and her grandson was standing outside looking agitated at the Trump supporters...( I suppose it was her grandson”. Her daughter walked toward the supporters but walked back. It was tense there for a moment.
They backed down when stood up to..I thought they would call me names but to my surprise… They did not. My little girl said, “ Mama, they are nuts..I said they are deplorable. They were also excited for their candidate.. GET OUT THE VOTE !!!!!!
