Eileen Bedell, Democratic candidate running against David Brat in the 7th District of Virginia, is going after Brat on a Bizarre Lack of Choice!
The Brat defeated Eric Cantor in 2014, and has become the bedrock (the bottom layer) of the Freedom Caucus. He is wildly pro-life attributing his position to “God, the Author of Nature.”
The Brat’s “curve ball” is his definition of “life” which is far beyond most anti-abortionists. He co-sponsored H.R.816/S.2464; a bill to implement equal protection under the 14th Amendment for the right to life of each born and “preborn’ human person. The Bill provides that:
“The terms... `human person` and `human being` include each member of the species homo sapiens at all stages of life, including the moment of fertilization or cloning, or other moment at which an individual member of the human species comes into being.”
The Donald needs The Brat’s strong support in Virginia given his own life-style and his long-term support of freedom of choice. He ensured that with his $2,600 contribution to Brat’s campaign in April 2015 just before he declared for President. This contribution and The Donald’s long-history of bragging about donating to candidates to gain favors tells the story. The Press needs to get on that one!
Eileen Bedell believes that the Freedom of Choice under our constitution covers Life After Birth, not Life after Conception. Eileen, as the mother of two children, is particularly concerned about the need to protect health care access for women through programs such as those provided by Planned Parenthood. She strongly supports reproductive education and greater access to birth control to significantly improve women’s overall health.
Eileen has held Freedom of Choice a principle in accordance with every word of the Bible (the word “abortion” does not appear) and it is a fundamental concept of living. God, whether or not he is the “Author of Nature” approves.
