After turning down previous cabinet positions by confessing he had no relevant experience for them—president yes, but not a top-level government functionary, that’s just crazy talk—Dr. Ben Carson is now for some reason being Twitter-floated by Donald Trump as Trump's new secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Sure, we'll bite. Your qualifications for this one, Dr. Carson?
"I know that I grew up in the inner city and have spent a lot of time there, have dealt with a lot of patients from that area, and recognize that we cannot have a strong nation if we have weak inner cities," Carson replied.
On a separate note, I grew up near one of America's important naval bases and have repeatedly seen boats. If Donald wants to make me his next defense secretary, I will gladly send a more complete résumé.
On a separate, separate note, it was a little over one year ago that Donald Trump compared Ben Carson to a child molester. We don't know if that's better or worse than accusing your father of helping to kill JFK. We don't have a chart for these things.
On a separate, separate, separate note, as Donald Trump fills out his administration with, essentially, whoever Donald Trump knows that is still willing to be seen with him, now would be a very good time to review something called the Dunning–Kruger effect. You may want to print that out and tape it to a wall somewhere nearby; we’ll be referring to it often over the next four years.
