So, it has been announced that Ivanka is moving into the First Lady's Office and will be assuming First Lady duties. In response, these are actual headlines from the same "liberal" media that gave us Donald Trump in the first place:
The past few days I have seriously contemplated whether I have died and am trapped in some sort of hellscape. I have watched less weird episodes of the Twilight Zone, where everyone tries to convince the main character that their incredible circumstances are normal. This is not normal. None of this is. It is not okay that our new president’s biggest concern is a comedy show in New York. It is not okay that his party thinks surrendering our democracy to Mother Russia is no big deal. And it’s not okay that this sexually assaulting pervert is making the source of his obvious, unholy sexual fascination his new First Lady instead of his wife!
I cannot for the life of me understand how Trump's completely inappropriate, bizarre, incestuous infatuation with his own daughter was not only "accepted", but completely glossed over in this election. It is not normal to be obsessed with your daughter’s body, much less say you would date her if you weren’t married.
I can't even think of a metaphor to equate this to because this is just so wrong.
I understand that there are more things to be concerned with than who our First Lady is, such as a potential war with China, (or perhaps Sweden), or Trump’s seemingly funny game of trying to find the most heinous, unqualified people he can to fill his cabinet.
But the media is not only pretending this is normal, as you can see from their headlines, they are trying to justify it. (Are White House press credentials really that damn important?) If our media is so impotent that they can’t even call something like this out, then what the hell do you think is going to happen when our intelligence agencies report before January 20th that Trump may have committed treason? (Hint: they won’t call it treason.)
Masha Gesson, who lived during Putin’s takeover in Russia, wrote an incredible article on surviving an autocracy. One of the items is not counting on institutions, like a free press, because they will fail you.
From the looks of things, they already have.

Mnkh points out the other aspect of this: How little respect this indicates Trump has for Melania. Melania could easily perform the duties of First Lady even if she temporarily lives in New York, but it is obvious that Trump doesn’t think she is capable. (And anyone who has convinced themselves that this arrangement is simply “temporary” is as delusional as a Trump supporter.)
To give you perspective on how messed up this is, just try to imagine the headlines if President Obama said sexually suggestive things about Mahlia and then made her First Lady when he took office instead of Michelle. No one would be trying to normalize, let alone justify, such a travesty. With Trump, however, we are being groomed to accept more and more outrageous behavior.
