On February 11, 2016, the Federal Election Commission has asked the Bernie Sanders 2016 presidential campaign to examine unexplained contributions from over a hundred donors to his campaign. The Federal Election Commission says these contributions exceed the limits an individual can contribute.
From the DailyNewsBin: ‘The inquiry comes even as Sanders tries to make the case that he’s running the cleanest campaign in the 2016 race due to his lack of excessive outside contributions, and the revelation could not come at a worse time’.
It seems that some of Bernie Sanders contributor may have given more than the 2700.00 allowed. Sanders is always hyping how many individuals are giving to his campaign, now it looks like some were giving more than they should have. With more than 3 million contributions, mistakes can happen. However when you are the candidate who touting being above the rest in honesty, you would make sure you hire the right people to catch discrepancies such as these.
DailyNewsBin: In what the F.E.C. has titled “Excessive, Prohibited, and Impermissible Contributions” to the Bernie Sanders campaign, it lists nearly a thousand contributions from hundreds of donors, some of them repeat offenders. Sanders is accused of failing to provide adequate detail on who the contributors are beyond their names, which campaigns are required to make their best effort to do under federal law.”

The F.E.C. stated, if the campaign cannot fully explain, whom the contributions came from Sanders might have to refund the contributions. The F.E.C. report also states that Sanders has incorrectly reported, “reimbursements to individuals for the attached travel related disbursements.”
Sanders will have until March 17 to respond to the F.E.C. The report states that there will not be any extensions for the Sanders campaign to respond. “Failure to adequately respond by the response date noted above could result in an audit or enforcement action.”
Michael Briggs a representative for Sanders stated, “We are looking into the F.E.C. staff questions and are committed to full and accurate disclosure of the tremendous grass-roots support for Sen. Sanders from people all across America.”
First, we had data gate, now contribution gate. What would the response be if this was Hillary Clinton, well, we know what it would be, ugly.
This diary is not attacking, just stating facts from the F.E.C report.
