Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Al Franken (D. MN):
I won’t be around to sing “Happy Birthday” to Jason Kander this year. First off, he’ll probably be somewhere out on the campaign trail. His loss -- my singing voice is lovely.
But that doesn’t mean I’m not going to do something nice for Jason today. And from experience, I know the perfect thing to do.
There’s nothing better to get on your birthday when you’re running for Senate than to know your team is strong, dedicated, and fighting beside you. Believe me.
So today, on Jason Kander’s birthday, I’m asking you to help me help Team Kander raise $20,000. Can you pitch in a few dollars?
We all know Jason is the perfect person to represent Missouri. I’m looking forward to working with him. The problem is the special interests know that too -- and they’ve already spent money to attack him.
Jason’s race is huge. It’s on several of the “top Senate races” lists out there. The polls show Jason rapidly closing the gap with his opponent. He’s got the determination to win this -- all he needs is our support.
And by “support,” right now I mean “money.”
Let’s make this a great birthday for Jason. Give $5, $10, or even more if you can to help Team Kander reach the $20,000 birthday goal before midnight.
Hopefully, by this time next year, Jason will be in Washington shaking things up and fighting for the families of Missouri.
Thanks for helping make that happen.

P.S.: You guys may not know this about me -- but I always put an ask in the P.S. Click this link and make a contribution on Jason’s birthday.
P.P.S: I usually don’t put two P.S.’s, but this is a special occasion. And this is a big goal with a limited timeline. So here’s one last ask, just in case the others didn’t convince you. Give what you can before the day is over.
