After watching — whatever the hell that was Matt Lauer was doing (journaljism?) — I’m really confused. We’re told that the media is holding Trump to a lower standard because he has no experience politically. Then we watch while he gets spoon fed stuff. So either he’s a diversity hire — because unexperienced people are under represented in the presidency, or he’s a special needs hire — because you have to give him special accommodations so he can perform as well as the other kids.
Either one of those strikes me as a bit odd. I thought we were looking for the BEST candidate we could find. This isn’t some contest where all the special snowflakes get participation awards, is it? I wonder if Matt Lauer would be happy going to a barber who has never cut hair, or a dentist who needs to consult Siri to find out how many teeth there are supposed to be in the mouth, or an auto mechanic what doesn’t know the difference between an hydraulic lift and a fork lift.
Seems ironic that the guy who always talks about how he would hire “the best [fill in the blank]” to get the job done lacks the self-awareness to realize he is far from even close to marginally qualified to do the job he is applying for. Of course, that is not as surprising as it seems since a hallmark of the truly incompetent is their failure to recognize their own incompetence.
I will give Trump a pass on one point though. He probably read the body language in his classified briefing sessions correctly. He’s just completely wrong about why everyone was so uncomfortable. If someone had held a mirror up for him, I’m sure he would see what it was that had everyone squirming.
