It’s not just Planned Parenthood that’s seeing a sharp increase in demand — birth control providers of all kinds are seeing a lot more requests from patients. Birth control startups have noticed the demand and have been offering deals for women across the country, BuzzFeed reports.
Here’s some of the deals:
Use the promo code TINYHANDS to get $45 towards birth control through Nurx, who ships to California, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, Virginia, Illinois, and Washington, D.C.
Get a free telemedicine appointment through Maven Clinic, which can prescribe in 47 states. They ship the order to your local pharmacy for pickup.
The Pill Club is offering emergency contraception for free to customers with insurance. It only can write prescriptions for people in California, but if you already have a prescription they can ship to you if you live in one of these 10 states: Arizona, California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, and Washington.
The existence of these startups clearly are not a replacement for proper health care coverage, which the Republicans want to take away from millions. However, it’s good that some folks may have more options than they know. The Pill Club’s CEO Nick Chang explained to BuzzFeed:
“Our own patients were [asking], especially after the election, ‘What’s going to happen to my coverage? We have only so much we can control in terms of what Trump and [vice-president-elect Mike] Pence and Price do. But one of the ways that we can help patients right now and prepare them for anything that happens down the line is to give them protection and backup options.”
