On Saturdays, the True Blue Report “Blue Ribbon” will be awarded to an individual or group with the most successful, dramatic, or encouraging act of resistance in the previous week.
I will choose some winners in the body of the diary and also accept nominations for others in the comments.
The first Blue Ribbon goes to Temple B’Nai Israel in Victoria, Texas: Jews give local Muslims to keys to their synagogue after town mosque burns down
And ribbons also go to all the people who donated money for the rebuilding of the mosque.
In these times when the Powers That Be are frantically trying to pit religious groups against one another, interfaith cooperation is an even more meaningful form of resistance. And when Muslims are being demonized by the VRWC on a daily basis, showing that there is nothing to fear from peaceful people at prayer a good thing for right wing snowflakes to see.
Judge James Louis Robart gets a blue ribbon even though he is apparently a Republican (Dear Lord can there possibly be any sane Republicans left) for the dramatic order that brought an immediate nationwide halt to the DJT Muslim travel ban.
Best thing about this is that Robart was appointed by GWB so the “what do you expect from an activist Obama appointee” talking point is snatched out of their hands.
DJT trolling him with the supposed insult “so-called judge” made DJT look worse than Robart, so it is a win win for the Blue Team.
And the cherry on top is that the Department of Homeland Security and State Department have reinstated all the revoked visas, and all the people in limbo, including the 4-month old baby girl in desperate need of heart surgery, will now be able to complete their travel plans. YAY.
Very very happy to give a big blue ribbon to CNN for refusing to accept KAC as a guest on their Sunday political talk show, State of the Union. The whole thing is surprising since I thought DJT was not sending any more representatives to CNN because he was in a snit about something. There must be an interesting backstory attached to why the White House would offer her as a guest in the first place. They must have some message they are trying to get into the mainstream.
This is GREAT NEWS for two reasons: first because it reminds CNN that the politicians need you more than you need them. You put them on and give them mainstream legitimacy. Refuse to air them and they marginalize themselves by only being able to talk to their bubble.
Second, as I said on Monday, the first network that stops giving airtime to the purveyors of fake news (either from White House boycott or by their own doing) will probably get a bump up in viewership. Aren’t we all tired of hearing Propaganda Barbie play the “I can drone through my list of talking points without ever coming close to answering your question” game with one interviewer after another?
Saving the best for last: Lots and lots and LOTS of blue ribbons for all the people who are burning up the phone lines and generating a RECORD NUMBER of phone calls to Congress!
According to Montana Senator Jon Tester, some Senators are not answering their phones at all because they just can’t deal with it. Good. Even if they don’t answer their phones, they are thinking about us and we are inconveniencing them by tying up their phones, so they know we are out here.
More great news: Jon Tester also said he got only 20 calls in support of DeVos as compared to thousands of calls he has received opposing her. Either the Red Team has lost its passion, or even the Deplorables recognize DeVos is manifestly unqualified, but either way the energy is with us now and we outnumber them.
This also proves my point that when we call our own people, it can turn into positive news for us. When we call or write to opponents, they can easily avoid acknowledging us and find ways to minimize the volume of dissent. We know their philosophy: heed not the rabble who scream revolution. So we will never hear McConnell admit that he is getting thousands of calls, because he is supposedly not answering his phone at all and is trying to redirect people to (easily ignored) email. But that clip of Jon Tester saying the calls were running 3000 to 20 has been played over and over again and has an effect on the kind of people who follow the leader and want to do and think what everyone else is doing and thinking.

Please add in the comments links and info about any resistance efforts in your area or nationally that you want to recognize from the past week and they will get Blue Ribbons too!
We need to celebrate every win to help keep our spirits up. There are no small victories! Let’s party!
