What is an exact definition for terrorism? Google provides an answer:
ter·ror·ism
ˈterəˌrizəm/
noun
-
the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.
Donald Trump-through the issuance and implementation of unlawful executive orders-is responsible for the exaction of violence and intimidation against innocent, law-abiding civilians. His recently discredited Muslim Ban and his authorization of increased and unnecessary ICE raids-186 immigrants without criminal records have had their lives disrupted by these raids-are acts of terrorism that he’s tried to disguise as official policy. And now there is the possibility of his usurpation of the U.S. National Guard to act as a deportation force.
If Trump were to enact this deportation force, it would be a declaration of war against millions of American countrymen and countrywomen. Imagine the image. National guard troops with weapons of destruction, roaming formerly peaceful neighborhoods, knocking down the doors of homes, and herding innocent men, women, and children into trucks bound for prisons and detention centers. It is a terrifying and nightmarish image, one that threatens to become a reality if we don’t fight back hard.
Entire communities are now on edge- communities that are full of innocent and hard working people, people who contribute to the function and wealth of our country- for fear of being rounded up by scary men with guns while simply trying to live out their lives. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Trump’s election as president, and many of the policies that he chooses to enact are meant to terrorize and intimidate the millions of black and brown people who call this country home. Their mission is to criminalize people of a certain skin color. And it is not just immigrants. He has threatened to flood the city of Chicago with National Guard troops as well. Those of us who choose to resist the policies of his rogue administration should approach the fight as a non-violent rebuke of domestic terrorism.
