TRUE BLUE REPORT: I'm glad Bannon, Conway, Carson, Sessions, Miller et al. are in DJT administration

In the middle of everything else that was going on yesterday, few people noticed that Ben Carson and Rick Perry were confirmed for their cabinet positions.

Both completely unqualified, even by Republicon standards.

Rick Perry, as we all remember, campaigned on wanting to dismantle the Department of Energy in the 2012 election cycle. Perry is equally famous for not actually knowing what the Energy Department does—thinking he was going to be a “cheerleader for the oil and gas industry” instead of having responsibility for maintaining the U.S. nuclear arsenal.

Ben Carson admitted in a rare moment of honesty a few months ago, through spokesbot Armstrong Williams, that he felt unqualified for a cabinet post because he has no government experience and has never run a federal agency. How Carson reconciled that with his own run for the presidency is a perfect oxymoronic example of “republicon logic”. Or maybe it should be called “oxymoranic”, with emphasis on the “moran”.

So while all the other news was breaking about Jeff Sessions recusing himself and Carter Page admitting he met with Russian ambassador Kislyak, those two Senate confirmations got almost no press attention.

But when I saw the otherwise overlooked information roll by on the crawl under a more important story last night, I did not have the reaction I expected. My heart did not sink. I did not sigh heavily or throw things at the TV or start ranting to the open air about how depressing it is to watch the Cabinet of Deplorables add its two latest members.

Instead, I surprised even myself.

I smiled.

I thought, OK. Good.

Let them all climb on to the sinking ship that is the DJT administration.

That way, when it sinks, we will be done with the lot of them.

Richard Nixon won re-election in 1972 by carrying 49 out of the 50 states.

Two years later he resigned in disgrace, and it was hard to find anyone who would admit to having voted for him.

Even better, many of the big name political people who were associated with Nixon were essentially blacklisted from Rcon politics for a good long while, until the short attention span of the electorate allowed people to forget that the likes of Pat Buchanan and Robert Bork and G. Gordon Liddy and Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney had played a role in the Nixon Administration.

I’m not saying (yet) that the problems the DJT administration is having are worse than Watergate.

But I am saying that whatever this is, when it is all over, everyone involved is going to be embarrassed to admit they ever had anything to do with DJT and this godforsaken experiment in letting a petulant toddler have access to nuclear codes.

So that is my current political fantasy—looking forward to the day when people who were associated with the Trump Administration are as welcome as a skunk at a garden party.

I want their credibility to be completely shot.

I want every single one of them, and all the people who worked on their staffs, to be unemployable by any campaign, any lobbyist, any news organization.

I want them to have to keep justifying and rejustifying themselves, lying along the way of course, about what they did or what they didn’t do or how much they approved of him and how involved they were. They will tear each other into pieces. Jesus Christ this will be fun.

And I want Uday and Qusay and Ivanka to have to get real jobs.

So enjoy it while you can, Reince Priebus, Jared Kushner, Mike Pence, Carter Page, Jeff Sessions, Rick Perry, Neil Gorsuch, Nikki Haley, Betsy DeVos, Mike Flynn, Steve Bannon, Ben Carson, KellyAnne Conway, Stephen Miller, Andrew Puzder, Scott Pruitt, the whole lot of you.
