Received this e-mail today from Stacey Abrams’ (D. GA) gubernatorial campaign:
Dear Friend,
Yesterday, Team Abrams marched in solidarity with the LGBTQ* community in the Atlanta Pride Parade – celebrating the progress Georgia has made and recommitting to fight against discrimination of all kinds.
In 2017, our state has plenty to celebrate – but Georgia still has a long way to go before achieving full equality for all.
The four Republican candidates for Georgia governor just unanimously backed a controversial measure – vetoed time and time again – that would legalize discrimination under the guise of “religious liberty.”
This shouldn't be a partisan issue. Team Abrams knows that standing with our LGBTQ* family, friends and neighbors to create a stronger Georgia is the right thing to do – but we need your help. Add your name now to join us in this fight.
While serving in the Georgia House, I stood as an unwavering ally to the LGBTQ* community, and I continue to reject the false narrative that my religious liberty requires my neighbor’s oppression.
Instead of legalizing discrimination, Georgia leaders must do everything in our power to outlaw it.
We must oppose RFRA and any legislation that enshrines in law discrimination of any kind.
We must expand civil rights protections under the law and ensure more LGBTQ* Georgians are at the table sharing their vision for a state where everyone can succeed, not just survive.
Please stand with us today to help move Georgia forward, not backward:
Yesterday, LGBTQ* Georgians and their allies celebrated. Today, and in the months ahead, we must work together to build a state that uplifts every Georgian – regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.
Thank you,
Stacey
