Mylan pharmaceuticals has been under scrutiny for allegedly perpetrating a fraud in their misclassifications of the drugs they sell and the insanity with which they price gouge. The good news is they are getting called out for what they are—a thug-driven organization that uses fear and control to make money.
The suit alleges that the "skyrocketing" list price of EpiPen for consumers was the result of Mylan's payments of rebates to pharmacy benefit managers — including CVS Caremark, Express Scripts and Optum Rx — which handle prescription drug benefit programs for insurance plans.
The suit claims violations of consumer protection laws of all U.S. states, as well as a violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. If granted class-action status, the suit would cover all consumers.
When called on the madness of raising the prices of their life-saving EpiPens from $100 to $600 over the past seven years, they first pretended that they were explaining business and economics to everyone, and then they said they only made a teeny-tiny bit of money off of EpiPens, and then finally just tried to say that nobody was hurt because money is magic when they make it. That’s not the only bad news for Mylan’s millionaires.
The maker of EpiPen has issued a recall after defects in some of its anti-allergy injectors, as the company also faces a class-action lawsuit about a massive price increase in recent years..
Drug giant Mylan announced that its partner Meridian Medical Technologies has expanded a voluntary recall to the U.S. after reports of some devices failing to activate.
Mylan’s CEO Heather Bresch is also the daughter of bottom-of-the-barrel Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, who has played incompetent about the whole affair.
"We make a point ever since I’ve been in this position, and when I was governor, we made a point, we just didn’t get involved. It’s so convoluted. I don’t understand," he said. "To get into something you don’t understand and your daughter being in this type of industry it was best I stayed away."
I know Joe, you’re just a caveman, this world of ours frightens and amazes you. Mylan says the recall is for an “extremely rare” set of problems, but considering their track record with being honest I would take virtually everything they say with a shovel from a salt quarry.
Drug giant CVS has been taking advantage of Mylan’s naked greed to offering up a generic alternative, that could only cost more than Mylan’s EpiPen if they decided to make it out of diamonds.
