First diary here after 14 years of lurking.
Multiple news outlets in the UK are reporting that the Home Secretary of the UK Amber Rudd has taken the extraordinary step of publically slamming and shaming the Trump administration for prematurely releasing the name of the Manchester bomber to the American press.
The leak was significant in going against the express wishes of the UK police as they gathered evidence and chased suspects in the aftermath of the bombing. From The Times below:
“The home secretary rebuked Washington for passing on to American journalists critical information that had been given in confidence to the US administration. Asked on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme if the information sharing may be working against what the police want in public, Ms Rudd said: “Yes.”
She added: “Quite frankly, the British police have been very clear that they want to control the flow of information in order to protect operational integrity, the element of surprise, so it is irritating if it gets released from other sources, and I have been very clear with our friends that that should not happen again.”
This is yet another example of a destructive, incompetent and mendacious administration, and yet another disgraceful blow to the security and safety of those under the umbrella of the once indivisible Five Eyes.
Audio of the public statement can be found here. (The Independent and BBC4).
Full articles can be found at the UK Independent and also The Times here. This level of public rebuke is practically unheard of.
Enough is enough. This gang of thieves in Washington needs to go. They are dangerously and shamefully irresponsible on every level.
