I’m Susan Platt, candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in the Democratic primary on June 13.
Last week, I called for the Commonwealth to take down Confederate monuments and rename Confederate-themed highways and public buildings. I made this announcement because I don’t believe it is right to celebrate an act of treason against the United States of America -- a war that was waged for the purpose of maintaining slavery. I made this announcement because the job of leaders is to lead and lead boldly.
As you can imagine, the reaction hasn’t all been pretty. But I'm not backing down.
Whether it’s Donald Trump or his cowardly online trolls, I’m not afraid to call out the bullies. So I thought it was important to share some of their cruelty. Here goes:

Here’s the thing: I don’t mind being called names. What I mind is when regular Virginians are victims of discrimination and bigotry. What I mind is that we have a hateful man in the White House who has incited violence across the Commonwealth. What I mind is that our children are victims of bullying online and in schools.
My opponents are fine men but I am THE candidate in this race who can take on these bullies. But I need your help to win this primary race.
