I ordered this book as soon as Markos announced it on this site, and it arrived today as promised. It has, in fact 45 chapters. I have not read it all, but I have looked at each of the basic concepts. The 45 ideas are grouped as follows.
- Resist Trump at All Costs
- Protect the Culture
- Minimize Damage, Policy
- Build Electoral Infrastructure
- Build Grassroots Infrastructure
First, let me say that I have done a quick count, and out of the 45 ideas presented I have done or am doing 42. I expect that others here would beat me. For example,
- I am in Indivisible
- I volunteer at the local Democratic party office in Columbus IN, and in campaigns
- I have LGBT friends and relations, and have written about their issues here
- I have had friends of many nationalities and ethnicities, and several religions, since high school
- I speak or at least read several languages, and sing in several more, and I'm currently learning Spanish
- I have written about Indiana and national and world politics and on various issues here on DK and elsewhere on the Net for years
- I have been active in writing free textbooks and software manuals for One Laptop Per Child, to teach a billion children how to take over the world and run it better
and so on.
How about you?
As to the other three points,
- I am an amateur musician and occasional poet but not a visual artist, except for technical illustration
- I am not in a position to leak any Trump & Co. LLC Ltd. secrets (except for several hundred of the long-running Republican Dog Whistles)
- I am not suited to run for office by health and temperament. I just can't listen to that much guff all day with my severe ADHD. I have been an officer of various low-budget non-profits.
Fine, that's me. I will actually dive deeper into the specific ideas that Kos and Huttner presented, and see what I can share with you and others.
Now, how about you?
- Have you seen the book? (Yes for me, obviously)
- Do you own a copy? (Yes)
- Is your local library getting a copy? (Not yet)
- Is it on sale in your local grocery store alongside Limbaugh, or O'Reilly, or Levin, or whomever? (LOL)
- How about a local bookstore, if you even have one? (They will)
- How many of these ideas have you put into practice? (42—Life, the Universe, and Everything)
- What other aspects of the book would you like us to discuss? (We need DATA! We need to fight Fake News!)
- What did Kos and Huttner leave out? (More on systemic racism; more on GOTV, not just registration; how to frame our ideas)
If your enemy is of choleric temper, seek to irritate him.
