Received this e-mail today from former Rep. Gwen Graham’s (D. FL) gubernatorial campaign:
Have you seen the Senate's version of the extreme American Health Care Act? We knew Senate Republicans were crafting the bill in secret. Some said it would moderate the House bill -- but it's the same sick stuff in a different bill.
The Senate bill would send premiums and deductibles skyrocketing, make steeper cuts to Medicaid, and allow insurers to choose whether to cover pre-existing conditions.
I have called Senator Rubio’s office to urge him to vote no on TrumpCare. I asked him to represent the interests of Floridians, not insurance companies. Now I urge you to do the same. Will you call (or sign our petition) Senator Rubio’s office to let him know you oppose the Senate health care bill?
TrumpCare boils down to one thing: Republicans are cutting health care for working families and the middle class to pay for billionaire tax cuts and insurance company giveaways. It’s unconscionable. We expect more from our elected officials than this.
We still have work to do to strengthen health care in Florida, but we haven’t given up hope. I believe we must expand Medicaid and enact a public option. But if this repeal bill gets through the Senate, that could become more difficult. So Sam, can I count on you to call (or to sign onto our petition) Senator Rubio’s office and tell him to vote NO on this health care bill?
Thank you,
Gwen
